Who owned this table service and how it came to be in the museum collection is no longer known.

It is told at the museum that the service was found after the war in a barn near De Schaffelaar castle. Several Jewish families hid there during the Second World War: the so-called Barneveld Group. The assumption being that the items had belonged to one of these families. The objects have therefore been registered as Jewish tableware in the museum. Experts at the Jewish Historical Museum decided that the service is not typically Jewish - since certain specific elements are missing. The museum placed an advert in the local newspapers around twenty years ago asking for more information, without result.
