Research findings
No information is available regarding the painting's owner before it entered a private collection in Buenos Aires in 1947.
The gap in the provenance record during the war years and the painting's presence in collections in Germany before the war raises major doubts. The museum is attempted to contact the consignor through Sotheby's, to date unsuccessfully.
