The provenance is inconclusive. It is not known who F.A. van Putte, The Hague, was, nor how, when or under what circumstances he acquired this painting. In August 1940, Van Putte sold the painting to Kunsthandel Hoogendijk, Amsterdam. In September 1941, Hoogendijk sold the painting to Posse for the so-called Führermuseum.
