Tijdens de recuperatie in Duitsland is aangifte 2567 van Hoogendijk in verband gebracht met kunsthandel De Boer. Uit correspondentie van P. de Boer met de SNK blijkt dat hij het schilderij niet herkend heeft. [nl]
The provenance research into the period 1933-1945 has not revealed any indications suggesting possible involuntary loss of ownership.
The provenance of this object is most likely conclusive. It is believed that the painting was sold in 1927 by the Rothmann art dealership in Berlin to the private collector A.C. baron van Heerdt The Hague. Baron Van Heerdt then consigned the painting to the Hoogendijk art dealership in Amsterdam. Hoogendijk sold the work on an unknown date to Miedl, who in turn sold it to Hermann Göring via Hofer on 27 June 1940. No evidence has been found to suggest that there was any involuntary loss of ownership in this provenance history.
