Research findings
There is no, or insufficient provenance information known about this object from the period 1933-1945. After investigation, no sources have been found to date that can provide information to complete its provenance in the period. Therefore, no conclusions can be made regarding possible suspicious provenance or involuntary loss of ownership.
The provenance is unclear. It is not known how, when or under what circumstances the private collector J.C.H. Heldring from Oosterbeek acquired the painting. What is known is that Heldring voluntarily sold the painting to art dealer P. de Boer, Amsterdam, in 1940, and that De Boer resold it to the Dienststelle Mühlmann that same year.
