There is no, or insufficient provenance information known about this object from the period 1933-1945. After investigation, no sources have been found to date that can provide information to complete its provenance in the period. Therefore, no conclusions can be made regarding possible suspicious provenance or involuntary loss of ownership.
The provenance is not complete. At present, there are no leads for further research into the provenance of this object for the period from 1933 to 1940. It is known that the painting was auctioned on 20 February 1940 at Van Marle & Bignell in The Hague, originating from the collection of C.J.M. Milo. It is unknown under what circumstances, when or from whom C.J.M. Milo acquired the painting. After the auction, the painting was transferred via art dealer De Haan to art dealer Goudstikker/Miedl. De Haan acted as an intermediary in this transaction. Via art dealer Goudstikker/Miedl, the object was sold to the Führermuseum in Linz. The Restitutions Committee investigated the transaction between art dealer De Haan and art dealer Goudstikker/Miedl and concluded that there was no involuntary loss of possession. (RC: 1.106; 4.142)
