Research findings
There is no, or insufficient provenance information known about this object from the period 1933-1945. After investigation, no sources have been found to date that can provide information to complete its provenance in the period. Therefore, no conclusions can be made regarding possible suspicious provenance or involuntary loss of ownership.
The provenance research is inconclusive. It is unknown how, when, or under what circumstances H. Nijgh from Amsterdam/Rotterdam acquired this painting. What is known is that H. Nijgh sold the painting to Kunsthandel P. de Boer in Amsterdam in April 1940. In the same year, De Boer sold the painting to W. Lüpps in Düsseldorf. It was then sold to G. Forell, Tegernsee in Germany. No evidence of involuntary loss of ownership has been found in this provenance research.
