Research findings
There is no, or insufficient provenance information known about this object from the period 1933-1945. After investigation, no sources have been found to date that can provide information to complete its provenance in the period. Therefore, no conclusions can be made regarding possible suspicious provenance or involuntary loss of ownership.
The provenance research is inconclusive. It is not known how, when or under what circumstances Van Meeren from The Hague acquired this painting. Art dealer P. de Boer from Amsterdam purchased the painting from Van Meeren in August 1941 and resold it to Dr. Raemisch from Berlin in November 1941. No evidence has been found to suggest that these transactions involved involuntary loss of ownership.
