Research findings
The provenance research into the period 1933-1945 has not revealed any indications suggesting possible involuntary loss of ownership.
The provenance research is conclusive: it is not known how, when or under what circumstances Kunsthandel Georg Heep from Flensburg, Germany acquired this painting. However, it is certain that Kunsthandel P. de Boer from Amsterdam exhibited the painting at an exhibition in August 1932. Given De Boer's low inventory number, it is highly likely that the painting was owned by the art dealer from that moment on. In August 1940, Kunsthandel De Boer, Amsterdam, sold the painting to private collector H. Wieben from Kiel, Germany. No evidence has been found to suggest that the loss of ownership was involuntary.
