Stilleven met taart en vergulde bokaal
Stilleven met taart en vergulde bokaal In the middle of a table partly covered by a white cloth is a pie on a pewter dish. The neck, wings and head of a bird (a pigeon?) protrude from the pastry. On the right is a tall gilt cup; on its lid is a figure bearing a shield and a lance (?). An engraved pewter jug with foot, hinged lid and handle is lying on its side; the spout is decorated with an animal's head. On the left of the pie are some biscuits in a silver tazza. In the foreground, on a tray with a scalloped edge, are a goblet of wine, a rummer lying on its side and a flute-glass blown `a la facon de Venise'. Also in the foreground are a knife in a case, a napkin under a blue-patterned Chinese bowl of olives, and a pewter plate with a partly peeled and sliced lemon on it. On the far right are a basket, some clusters of grapes and branches of vine, apples, a violin and bow and a number of leather-bound books. Grey-green background.
