The provenance is inconclusive. At present, there are no leads for further research into the provenance of this object for the period from 1933 to 1945. It is unknown how, when and under what circumstances art dealer De Haan acquired this painting in Germany before 1938. Private collector Weijers, Tilburg acquired this painting from De Haan around 1938. The Restitutions Committee concluded that the subsequent sale of the painting back to De Haan should be considered voluntary. When selling to art dealer Goudstikker/Miedl, De Haan acted as an intermediary for Miedl. This was also investigated by the Restitutions Committee and is considered to be regular trade.
