Vanitas stilleven op tafel met schedel, boeken, een fluit en fruit in een mand [nl] On a table partly covered by a blue cloth are three parchment-bound books, two of them with red and purple-cut pages and red and blue ribbons, a yellow document from which a red wax seal cut with arms and a helmet is hanging, a skull, a brown wooden flute, a goose-quill, an orange and a basket of peaches, red grapes and cherries and a bare vine branch. Behind the skull a wooden post supporting a wooden rail (along the top edge of the painting). [nl]
: Tezamen met Gebroeders Douwes gekocht. Het schilderij werd op 6 februari 1941 aan H.M. Knight te Den Haag verkocht. In november 1941 geeft deze het schilderij weer terug aan Hoogendijk, waarna deze het alleen in eigendom had. [nl]
