Het schilderij is op 25-04-1944 verkocht uit de nalatenschap van collectie D. van der Linden, op de veiling Frederik Muller in Amsterdam. Het schilderij is op de veiling gekocht door kunsthandel P. de Boer, mogelijk in opdracht van E. Göpel. Kunsthandel P. de Boer verkocht het schilderij in 1944 door aan E. Göpel die het kocht ten behoeve van het beoogde Führermuseum in Linz. [nl]
