Research findings
There is insufficient provenance information known about this object from the period 1933-1945. After investigation, no sources have been found to date that can provide information to complete its provenance in the period. Therefore, no conclusions can be made regarding possible suspicious provenance or involuntary loss of ownership.
The provenance of this object is unclear. It is unknown who consigned this painting to the auction at Galerie Fievez in June 1941. The auction was organized to benefit the National Social Services for Military Families. The W.H. Paech Art Gallery in Amsterdam purchased this object in December 1941 from Kunsthuis Poupé in Brussels (BE). Paech sold the object in 1942 to Director Hupp of the museum in Düsseldorf. After the war, Paech reported this transaction as a voluntary sale.
