The provenance of this painting is not fully complete. It is unknown when, how, or under what circumstances the auction house Hôtel Drouot in Paris acquired the painting. On March 15, 1941, it was sold to Göring via Hofer, through Jozef Mühlmann in Munich. This transaction is considered a voluntary sale. Subsequently, in 1944, the painting came into the possession of the Goudstikker/Miedl art dealership through an exchange with H. Göring.
