The provenance of this painting is not complete. It is unknown when, how, or under what circumstances Miedl acquired this painting. According to the Göring catalogue, Miedl sold the work to Göring on June 1,1940. However, at that time, Miedl did not yet have access to the collection of Kunsthandel Goudstikker; that only occurred in July 1940. This transaction is considered a voluntary sale. In 1944, the painting came into the possession of the Goudstikker/Miedl art dealership through an exchange with H. Göring. Later that year, it was sold to Hitler via Göpel. This transaction is also regarded as a voluntary sale.
