It is also unknown when, how, or under what circumstances De Boer from Amsterdam acquired the painting. According to the Göring catalogue, De Boer sold the work to Göring on September 19, 1940. This transaction is considered a voluntary sale. In 1944, the painting came into the possession of the Goudstikker/Miedl art dealership through an exchange with H. Göring. Later that year, the painting was sold to Barthel in Bielefeld. This transaction is also regarded as a voluntary sale.
