De herkomst van deze kast is niet sluitend. Het is onbekend van wie, wanneer, hoe en onder welke omstandigheden de kunsthandel E. Delaunoy uit Amsterdam de kast heeft verworven. Vast staat dat de kast zich in 1936 al in het bezit van Delaunoy bevond. Delaunoy zond het meubel dat jaar in voor de Internationale Tentoonstelling van Oude Kunst in het Rijksmuseum. [nl]
