Research findings

There is no, or insufficient provenance information known about this object from the period 1933-1945. After investigation, no sources have been found to date that can provide information to complete its provenance in the period. Therefore, no conclusions can be made regarding possible suspicious provenance or involuntary loss of ownership.

The provenance of this object is not entirely clear. It is not known from whom, when, how or under what circumstances O. Lanz from Amsterdam acquired the object. Between 11 May 1934 and 1 October 1934, this object was exhibited as the property of O. Lanz at the exhibition Italian Art in Dutch Possession at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. O. Lanz died in Amsterdam on 23 March 1935. On 11 March 1941, H. Posse purchased the Lanz collection en bloc from O. Lanz's heirs for the intended Führermuseum in Linz. There are no indications that this transaction was involuntary.
